Prayers for Mourning
Blessed are they who mourn, for they shall be comforted. In times of grief and loss, the Church offers words of consolation and prayers for the blessed repose of departed souls.
Trisagion for the Departed
In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Holy God, Holy Mighty, Holy Immortal, have mercy on us. (Three times)
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen.
All-Holy Trinity, have mercy on us. Lord, cleanse us from our sins. Master, pardon our transgressions. Holy One, visit and heal our infirmities for Thy Name's sake.
Lord, have mercy. (Three times)
Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy Name. Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.
With the saints give rest, O Christ, to the soul of Thy servant, where there is neither sickness nor sorrow nor sighing, but life everlasting.
Grant rest eternal in blessed repose, O Lord, to the soul of Thy departed servant, and make his/her memory to be eternal.

Prayer for Those Who Grieve
O Lord Jesus Christ, Who didst weep at the tomb of Thy friend Lazarus and didst console the sorrowing sisters Martha and Mary: Look with compassion upon us who grieve the loss of those we love. Grant us the comfort of Thy Holy Spirit, that our hearts may not be overwhelmed by sorrow but may be lifted up in the sure and certain hope of the resurrection to eternal life. For Thou art the Resurrection and the Life, and to Thee we ascribe glory, together with Thy Father Who is without beginning, and Thine All-Holy and Good and Life-giving Spirit, now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen.

Thou only art immortal, Who hast created and fashioned man. For out of the earth were we mortals made, and unto the same earth shall we return again, as Thou didst command when Thou madest me, saying unto me: "For earth thou art, and unto the earth shalt thou return." Whither we mortals all shall go, making our funeral lamentation the song: Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia.
